having trouble seeing the print?

מֶרְחָק

If you've got a rudimentary Hebrew vocabulary, you probably know the word for far - רָחוֹק (rah-KHOHK). This essential adjective has cognates (words with similar origin) in several other Modern Semitic languages, such as Arabic and Amharic.

Distance, in Hebrew, is מֶרְחָק (mehr-KHAHK).

One common usage in Israel today is a bumper sticker you're likely to see on the back of cars: שְׁמוֹר מרחק (sheh-MOHR mehr-KHAHK) - keep distance, speaking in the masculine but in effect for all drivers, male and female.
