תִּשְׁעָה בְּאָב - the ninth of (the month of) Av (teesh-AH beh-AHV) - is now. It commemorates destruction, but also, in a piece I was just emailed, it implies the hope and promise of renewal.
I am reminded of a poem I wrote a few years ago in university in New York. You can see it here, in both English and Hebrew.
The Hebrew word for poem is the same as its word for song: שִׁיר (sheer). And poetry, as well as song in the general sense, is שִׁירָה (shee-RAH).
May we indeed experience renewal the world over, with Israel in the spotlight.
