how to say "flyover" or "aerial demonstration" in Hebrew...

I just looked up the sister-entry to this one, turns out it's been over a year! That took me by surprise...

I'm referring to my entry on the flotilla - מַשָּׁט (mah-SHAHT) that tried making its way to Gaza in June 2010.

Anyway, this entry refers to the group of activists trying to get into Gaza via an aerial demonstration - by plane. In Hebrew, this is called a מַטָּס (mah-TAHS).

The root is ט.ו.ס (t.w.s), one of the roots having to do with flying. You'll find this root in other words such as מָטוֹס - airplane (mah-TOHS) and טִיסָה - flight (tee-SAH)

Today's dose of Hebrew is sponsored by Yom Tov

I've seen his amazing art at Hechal Shlomo and even acquired a piece myself.

Check out Yom Tov's virtual gallery,
and visit his Kohelet exhibition in Jerusalem.
It's open
throughout the summer.
