how to say "oil" and "fat" in Hebrew...

The Biblical Hebrew word for oil is שֶׁמֶן (SHEH-men).

The nutrition-facts name for fat is שׁוּמָן (shoo-MAHN).

The derogatory term for someone who is overweight is שָׁמֵן (shah-MEN) for a male and שְׁמֵנָה (shmeh-NAH) for a female.

  1. Could you feature "to rent"? In two senses:

    1) I need to rent an apartment or a car for my own use , i.e., i don't own either of these.

    2) I wish to rent out my apartment to you, i.e., i own the apartment and you need a place to live.

  2. There is a funny Israeli movie about a group of Israeli men that want to become Sumo wrestlers. You can hear all forms of this word spoken in Hebrew. Its called "A Matter of Size" in English and סיפור גדול in Hebrew.
